Alister Payne

Alister Payne

Founder and Managing Director

Google Certified Deployment Specialist, Google Certified Administrator, Google Certified Educator, Google Authorised Education Trainer.

A career veteran teacher, EdTech specialist and Information Systems researcher, with an interest in Cloud Computing, Open Source, ICT4D, and Behaviour Information Technology, in particular adolescent online behaviour (Cyberbullying).

Alister is the CEO and founder of CloudEd. He completed an undergraduate in education and spent 18 years in teaching. 13 of those years as an IT administrator, and the last 8 in management as a deputy headmaster. His passion for education is equally matched by a love for IT, and in 2010, he had the opportunity to continue his studies, and he is currently completing a PhD in Information Systems at UCT.

2014 proved to be watershed year. He made the very bold decision to declare his independence, and he started CloudEd, an IT EdTech Consultancy and Cloud Migration company, which focuses on creating highly collaborative and innovative environments.

Kevin Sherman

Kevin Sherman is an educational consultant specializing in innovative teaching strategies. From 1985 until 2001, he taught secondary English and History, and also served as Head of Department and Curriculum Advisor. Since 1990, he has trained teachers to use technology in teaching, learning, and school management. From late 2009, Kevin served as the ICT-Integration Education Specialist at UCT’s Schools Development Unit. He consults widely with NGOs and schools to transform Southern African classrooms. Kevin holds two degrees from Stanford University: a B.A. in History and Psychology, and a Masters in Education. In 2013, he earned the distinction of becoming a Google Certified Teacher.

Lindsay is an exemplary educator, a visionary leader, dynamic presenter and a critical thinker who exudes immense passion for the possibilities that arise when integrating technology into teaching and learning. Lindsay holds a B.A. in Geography and Environmental Studies, Anthropology and Xhosa from the University of Stellenbosch and a PGCE from UNISA. She is currently reading her Masters in Education with a focus on educational technology and teacher training.

Lindsay has a decade of education experience. She begun her career as a creative, engaging, and innovative English, Afrikaans, Geography, and Life Orientation teacher and later progressed to management and teacher training in her capacity as EdTech Innovation Leader at the Parklands College Secondary Faculty. She regularly delivers dynamic keynote addresses in both local and international forums and conducts engaging and practical staff training and professional development workshops to assist fellow educators in adapting to, and thriving in, technology rich classroom environments.

Awarded the 2015 ‘iTeacher’ Award at the Apple in Education Awards and the 2016 EduWeek ‘Teacher of Tomorrow’ Award for her outstanding contribution to the education sector; Lindsay continues to pride herself in being at the forefront of the implementation of educational technologies in South African classrooms and beyond.

Deïdré Bothma

Deïdré Bothma

Google Education Trainer & Google Certified Educator (level 2)

Deïdré Bothma is passionate about technology integration in the classroom and empowering students to use different technological platforms to learn beyond the classroom. As a Certified Google Educator and GEG Leader (West Coast), Deïdré shares her passion for Google Apps with educators across a variety of contexts.

Deïdré is a Qualified Foundation Phase Teacher with a Degree in Sport Psychology from the University of Pretoria and a PGCE from UNISA. After spending a number of years in the classroom (local and abroad), Deïdré is now the Junior Primary Digital Learning Coordinator at Elkanah House Preparatory. There, she conducts professional development for staff, and supports the integration of Google Apps in the Foundation Phase classrooms through fun, interactive projects. She currently oversees the iPad roll-out for Grades 1–3 at Elkanah House.

In her spare time, Deïdré is an avid mountaineer, book lover and appreciator of fine food & wine.
